Cattewater Gigs

Catalina was the first gig to be built for the Cattewater Pilot Gig Club. Catalina was built at Mashfords Yard. She was launched in September 1998, shortly after the club was formed. Originally, she was the club's racing gig, but now she is being used as the main training boat for the club, and raced when necessary, such as at the Newquay finals, and the World Championships on the Isles of Scilly. As numbers increase, we hope that she may be required to race more frequently.

In February 2004, the second of the Cattewater Gigs was launched. She was named Pilgrim. Pilgrim was built in 2003, by Brian Pomeroy, based in Dartmouth. Pilgrim's building was part paid for with Lottery Funding. Pilgrim is used as the main racing boat, but shares the limelight with the Catalina at the World Championships on the Isles of Scilly in the first May bank holiday.

Odessa is the latest acquisition bought for the Cattewater club in 2006. Odessa was built in 1990 and was made out of mahogany. She is currently undergoing maintenance and being painted in club colours.
